Learning from Our Wise Elders

It continues to amaze me how we are so quick to forget about the wisdom of our elders and rush to who is newer, younger, and less experienced.  Youth is seductive and society, especially the power of the media, convinces us that young is better than old.  Yet, I am continually reminded of the value of wisdom and life experience.

Recently, I attended a professional conference and sought out some sages–wise professors who are well read, reflective, and thoughtful.  After interviewing them, I learned information that I could not learn from people new to the profession–people with less life experience.

My husband and I visited one of our son’s in San Fransisco recently and stayed in a cool Bed and Breakfast.  It was operated by two sages who were so fascinating that I interviewed them for my monthly column which you can read here.

What are you learning from the elders in your life?

As an elder, how are you sharing your wisdom?
